The APCU - Advanced Protective Combat Uniform is a cutting edge, 7-layer clothing system specifically designed for U.S. special forces, but can be used by any military, law enforcement or tactical operator. It also gives the modern warfighter more flexibility in layers to meet those changes in climate and mission. Distributed by Propper and sold by Squadsupply, some of the best minds in uniform design have played a role in the development of the APCU.
Extreme hot and arid temperatures during the day followed by bone-chilling dips below freezing at night. This is what our men and women face in the rugged combat zones of Afghanistan and Iraq. The first goal of the APCU design team was to create a modular system that could defeat extreme climate changes faced by soldiers today. Instead of a one-size fits all approach, the AdventureTech team created 7 levels that span a range of 45°F to -50°F. This item is LEVEL 5 in the 7 layer line-up. While you would never wear all of the layers together, you can mix and match pieces to add base layer moisture-wicking, rain protection or extreme cold weather insulation.
Constructed with 4-Way stretch, highly-durable softshell fabric that features Nanosphere treatment to protect againts dirt, grime and water. The Level 5 Softshell offers outstanding wind and water repellency, moisture wicking and a high abrasion resistance - perfect for the harshest operational theatres. Level 5 is the key to the entire system, this soft shell fabric jacket and pants are made with fibers encapsulated with silicone that are highly stretchable, windproof, water repellant and breathable. They are paired with Level 1 or 2 next-to-skin layers, ready for any cold weather aerobic activity.
This Advanced Protective Combat Uniform is constructed from high tenacity ripstop nylon with a durable water repellent finish, the APCU Level IV Windshirt offers great environmental protection ina super-lightweight package. Its incredible wind resistance reduces convective cooling and it can be used under outer layers to retain heat. It is also great over baselayers for moderates temps, or the Level III Pullover in colder climates.
